Professional Tennis Player - Anastasia Sergeyevna Potapova

Anastasia Sergeyevna Potapova, born on March 30, 2001, in Saratov, Russia, is a professional tennis player known for her powerful baseline play. She achieved a career-high singles ranking of World No. 21 in June 2023 and has secured three WTA Tour singles titles to date. 

In February 2025, Potapova claimed her third WTA title at the Transylvania Open in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She overcame Italy's Lucia Bronzetti in a three-set final, winning 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. This victory added to her previous titles in Linz (2023) and Istanbul. 

Following this triumph, Potapova participated in the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. She advanced to the second round with a commanding 6-3, 6-0 win over Beatriz Haddad Maia. Her next opponent in the tournament is Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska. 

Off the court, Potapova experienced personal changes. She married fellow tennis player Alexander Shevchenko in December 2023; however, the couple divorced in September 2024. Potapova has expressed her desire to focus on her career and personal growth following the separation.

A significant wildfire, known as the "Crabapple Fire," is currently affecting northeastern Gillespie County near Fredericksburg, Texas.
