Fredericksburg Fire

A significant wildfire, known as the "Crabapple Fire," is currently affecting northeastern Gillespie County near Fredericksburg, Texas. The fire ignited around 1 p.m. on March 15, 2025, near the 8700 block of Lower Crabapple Road and has rapidly expanded to approximately 8,640 acres with zero percent containment.  Strong winds, with gusts reaching up to 45 mph, have exacerbated the situation, causing embers to travel up to half a mile and igniting spot fires.
